NatHERS Assessment — What's Involved, What It Costs, How to Book

A NatHERS assessment (also called a home energy rating assessment) is the official 0–10 star evaluation of your home's thermal performance, performed by a domestic energy assessor and registered with CSIRO. Here's what's involved, what it costs, how long it takes, and how to book one near you.

What happens in a home energy rating assessment

1. Book & prep

Request quotes, pick an accredited assessor, send through plans or arrange a site visit (1–2 days).

2. Inspection / plan review

Existing home: 1–2 hour site visit measuring rooms, insulation, glazing, orientation, systems. New build: plans review only.

3. Certificate & report

Thermal modelling in AccuRate/FirstRate5/BERS Pro, official 0–10 star certificate, registered with CSIRO, plus upgrade report (3–7 days).

Who needs a home energy rating assessment?

  • ACT property sales & leases — disclosure has been mandatory since 1999.
