Victoria dominates assessor supply — it accounts for 47% of service coverage in our directory despite holding about 26.1% of Australia's population. That reflects the state's long-running FirstRate5 assessor base and mature Scorecard programme. NSW, by contrast, is under-supplied relative to its population share.

Three things the data shows
- Supply is concentrated in Victoria. More than half of all state-level service coverage sits in one state, so homeowners in NSW, QLD and WA often wait longer or pay more for a local assessor.
- Most assessors are single-state operators. Only 14 of 225 listings service more than one state — climate-zone familiarity and state compliance rules (BASIX in NSW, QDC in QLD) keep assessors local.
- Price spread is wide for identical work. Quotes for the same set of plans routinely vary by $200–$400 within a single city, which is why comparing three quotes is worth the ten minutes.
Methodology & citation
Figures are aggregated from MyEnergyRating's assessor directory as at September 2026. Listings are cross-checked against the NatHERS national register (nathers.gov.au) and assessor accrediting organisations (DMN, ABSA). Coverage counts record the states an assessor advertises service in, not the number of certificates issued. Pricing reflects quoted fees, not audited invoices.
